Top three romantic comedies to watch on Valentine’s Day
By Jodi Guglielmi
Valentines day is known for love, and Hollywood is not one to ignore that. If you don’t have a date to take out on the special night, or if you and your date just want to spend the night in relaxing, here are the top three romantic comedies to watch on Valentines Day.
“Love and Other Drugs” -at first this film seems as if it is the classic story of a damsel in distress who needs a prince to come in and save the day. However, in this story, the damsel and the prince both seem to need a bit of saving. Using sex and dirty jokes as the primary form of humor, this movie follows the two lovebirds through their trials that pull them apart but eventually lead them back together. I give this a 5 out of 5 on the laugh scale, and a 4 out of 5 on the heartwarming scale.
“No Strings Attached”- This is a story we’ve all heard before but finally got turned into a movie. The two characters in this film start having a sexual relationship claiming that it is just sex, without the feelings. But of course like any other romantic comedy they end up falling for each other in the end. The film thrives off of semi-awkward moments and conversations along with truly funny dialect. Part of why it is so funny is because to some degree, everyone can relate to the story line and situations. Also, Ashton Kutcher, the male lead in the film, doesn’t always have his shirt on – which is always a plus. I give this a 5 out of 5 on the laugh scale and a 3 out of 5 on the heartwarming scale.
“Life As We Know It”- This movie is perfect for you single ladies. You get to laugh and ugly cry, all in one movie! The premise of the film centers on a baby whose parents tragically died. The humor comes in when two people who seemingly hate each other, are left in charge of the child. The trials and tribulations that come along with raising a child are heightened and hilarious in this movie, as the two adults have no idea what they are doing. Naturally, at the end of the film, the two fall in love and end up adopting the baby to parent together. I give this movie a 5 out of 5 on the laugh scale and a 5 out of 5 on the heartwarming scale.
Watch any of these movies and your Valentines Day is sure to be full of constant laughter and the occasional “aww” at those heartwarming moments. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the day of love!
