NFL Super Bowl 50 game day preview

The journey is still alive for four teams to win Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7. Last year, more people watched the halftime show and commercials than the actual game itself. According to NFL.com, they predict the same thing will happen. The Super Bowl is going to be bigger than ever.
The betting has begun and people have placed their orders. There is anticipation that the 16-1 Carolina Panthers will play against the four- time winning champions New England Patriots who are 13-4.
“I want the Cardinals to win,” Tim Mansfield, junior, said. “ I’m a huge Notre Dame fan and love Michael Floyd.”
People might have believed that the Seattle Seahawks would have redeemed themselves from Super Bowl XLIX, but they are out of the running. The Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos are the teams remaining.
The Super Bowl is not just about the football game; there is something to entertain everyone. Commercials were not at their peak last year, but sources say marketers want to have “fun” again. For instance, Nationwide Insurance had a commercial that focused more on mockery and criticism last year, which was met with disapproval.
Advertisers said they plan on focusing on humor and stories to warm your heart. Doritos is asking the fans to get involved and have them vote on which commercial they want to air.
“I really hope they air the new airplane one that’s out right now,” Taylor Romano, sophomore, said. “I laugh every time it’s on.”
Toyota is airing a commercial that includes their cars as well as “comedy of errors” that make the ride of a Prius enjoyable. Coca-Cola, along with the NFL, will be airing more serious topics to get important messages across.
All of the commercials seem to be taking a turn for the better this year, but there is one commercial that will remain the same. Fans rely on Budweiser to have the best commercials to make you more emotional than ever with heartfelt stories of horses and dogs.
Viewers love watching commercials, but people look forward to the halftime show the whole first half. Icon Katy Perry with special guest Missy Elliot left football fans amazed in Super Bowl XLIX. People imagined it was hard to top that performance until they heard who was performing at halftime of Super Bowl 50.
Seven-time Grammy award winner, Coldplay, will be the entertainment for the event. Beyoncé will also be making an appearance at halftime.
“I love Beyoncé, she’s one of my favorite’s so I’m really excited about watching her perform,” Becca Sweredoski, sophomore, said. “It’s going to be a performance to remember.”
Coldplay is creating a performance based on the NFL’s ‘On The Fifty Campaign’ and taking viewers back to the past, recognizing the present and fast-forwarding 50 years. Along with Beyoncé, there are rumors going around of other special guests.
The Super Bowl is not just for the football fans, it is also for the entertainment lovers. The halftime show and commercials keep viewers intrigued who do not enjoy football as much as others. People do not watch the game only for the football; they watch it for pure entertainment. The Super Bowl is right around the corner and the excitement is growing.
