Christian Yelich out for the season

Milwaukee Brewers all-star and 2018 MVP Christian Yelich is out for the season. Yelich fouled a ball off of his kneecap against the Marlins. He ended up breaking that kneecap. This will keep him out of the game for six to eight weeks, leaving him to little time to play in this year’s playoffs.
The Brewers are currently in the middle of a wildcard hunt. They hold the second spot, tied with the Chicago Cubs at 78-68. The Brewers are 8-2 in their last 1,0 and having Yelich out of the lineup will be a big blow to their hopes of returning to the NLCS.
Before he got injured, Yelich was in the MVP conversation again. Through 130 games this season, he was batting .329, hit 44 home runs, had 97 rbis, and 30 stolen bases. Almost all of his stats this year were better than his MVP season just a year ago. The 40-30 club is impressive as it is.
The Brewers’ offense is not as potent as it was last year. Their run differential this year is -24. It is amazing that they are even in a current playoff position while having a negative run differential.
They will need help from their other stars, Lorenzo Cain, Ryan Braun and Josh Hader, to pick up the slack for the rest of the season.
The Brewers have a challenging rest of the way as well. They have 16 games left and will start out with a three game series at the St. Louis Cardinals.
There should be an interesting end to the season for Milwaukee.
