On Sept. 12, the High Point University men’s basketball team unveiled their complete schedule for the 2018-19 season. The Panthers will open up the season on Nov. 7, on the road at William and Mary. Last season, HPU opened up against the Tribe, winning 100-66. HPU plays its first home game on Nov. 10 against Wofford before participating in the Bimini Jam in the Bahamas. The four-team tournament will consist of HPU, South Dakota, Air Force, and UMBC; last season, UMBC became the first 16-seed in NCAA Tournament history to defeat a 1-seed, upsetting Virginia 74-54 in the first round. Nonconference play concludes on Jan. 2 with a home game against Washington College (Md.). The Panthers take on one Power-5 team during the nonconference slate, playing Ohio State on the road on Dec. 29.
Conference play begins on Jan. 5 with a road game against Charleston Southern. The first home conference game of the season occurs on Jan. 10 against Presbyterian. HPU will be at home during Family Weekend on Feb. 2, taking on Hampton, one of two new additions to the conference alongside USC Upstate. The final home game of conference play will take place on Feb. 27 against Radford, the defending champions of the Big South Tournament, and conference play concludes on March 2 with a road game against UNC Asheville, the defending regular season champions of the Big South Conference. The conference tournament begins on March 5 and will conclude on March 10. HPU is looking to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
