If the world were your oyster for spring break, where would you go?

Spring break is a time of relaxation. It is a week of taking a load off from all the hard work you’ve put into the second semester thus far. For seniors, it seems like one last hoorah with all their best friends.
It’s kind of like Christmas break, but it’s a bigger deal. Instead of three to four weeks of uninterrupted family time and home-cooked meals, you can go off with your best friends anywhere but home.
In high school, getting to experience a trip only with friends was not as common. Most vacations were spent with family. Growing up, my friends always went somewhere warm like Florida or somewhere in the Caribbean with their families.
When we grew older, however, we were able to become more independent, and traveling with friends became more of a possibility.
For many people, the independence of college means not having to rely on their parents for money, and therefore having the freedom to use that money however they want.
However, spring break doesn’t last forever. You only have four during your whole college experience, so you really do have to make the most out of them.
This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to spend the big bucks in order to have fun. Spring break can be fun whether you head home to see relatives or get a group of friends together and head to a fun, exotic location like the Caribbean. I’ve even noticed some people hopping across the pond to visit all of their best friends studying abroad in Europe.
I asked some High Point University students where they would go for spring break and who they would take, if they were able go anywhere in the world. Here are their responses:
“I would probably go to Bora Bora with my roommate, Alex. He’s practically my brother.”
—Benjamin Colby
“I’d want to go to Cancun. I was looking at this really cool hotel called La Riu Palace las Americas, and it was beautiful. It’s right on the beach and it took my breath away. I told my boyfriend about it, and we both would totally go. It would be an amazing break spent with him there.”

“If I could go anywhere during spring break I would go to Hawaii. I would take my family and my friends. I would also love to rent a house on the water and go to the beach every day.”
—Samantha Rubenstein
“If I could go anywhere during spring break, I would go to Mexico. Mexico has great beaches, and I can get a great tan. I would take my best friend Shea because we get along so well.”
