Student earns behind-the-scenes concert experiences

Kate Mohns, from San Diego, California, resembles an extraordinary student at High Point University. Kate is in her junior year.
Studying communications with a focus in electronic media production, and a minor in event management, Mohns has spent this past summer chasing her dreams.
Mohns interned in the marketing department for Live Nation, the number one global concert production company. A few memorable artist she has had the opportunity to work with includes The Backstreet Boys, Metallica, and Sam Hunt.
“Sam hunt was amazing! I’m a huge country fan and it was a radio presented show, meaning it was ‘MC-ed’ by the #1 country radio show in San Diego.”
She assisted in creating marketing plans, managing media requests for outlets such as Getty and NBC, write press releases, manage radio stations participating for concert events, and escort media to and from proper areas they are allowed to record.
“it required a lot of patience and being able to change gears virtually every minute,” says Mohns.
Mohns recently received an amazing opportunity with her best friend, Haley Hartje, to be HPU’s first ever student journalists to interview the fall concert artist, Daya. The fall concert takes place on September 29 at 7 PM on Roberts Lawn.
“I am super excited to interview Daya. Haley and I met Daya prior at her show last year in Charlotte and I am super thrilled to hang out with her again,” says Mohns. “Haley and I have been working for two and half years to get an opportunity like this. We are honored to be High Point University’s first ever student journalists to be able to interview visiting artist.”
Mohns and Hartje formed “City to City Entertainment”, consisting primarily of radio, vlogging, and interviews, named in order to symbolize their long-distance friendship as they share similar dreams to create a legacy in the entertainment industry.
Mohns wants to work on a tour for an artist one day. Eventually, she wants to work behind the scenes for a television production. Maybe, dreaming big, she would be on camera one day.
“It would be so much fun to travel on the road.”
