Kit D’Anthony: president profile

At High Point University, students have the option of joining clubs and organizations that speak to their interests. One of those students has risen to the top of their organization in order to better achieve her dreams.
Junior Kit D’Anthony is one of the co-presidents of the Entrepreneurship Club, an organization where students can get experience working on entrepreneurial projects and networking at business conferences. To her, entrepreneurship has been a passion since before she came to High Point.
“I heard about the Entrepreneurship Club on my tour of HPU before even applying,” D’Anthony said. “I knew I wanted to join as soon as I got here.”
After becoming a member and getting inspired by the club’s leadership team, the New Hampshire native decided to take on a leadership role in the club.
“I realized that one day I wanted to be the student that could be a positive leader,” D’Anthony said. “My co-president was elected and asked me to serve alongside her.”
What D’Anthony loves most about serving in the club is that it is a chance for her and other students to network and share ideas. The communication amongst the members allows for them to create businesses together, critique each other’s models and listen to speakers.
Running the club has not come without its challenges, however. When it comes time to attending conferences, such as the National CEO Conference, it takes a lot to get everything organized.
“We have to plan for the conference that 10 students attend, write bills for the club, plan all the events, maintain membership, and advertise for the club,” D’Anthony said. “With all of these tasks, it takes a lot of organization, communication and time management.”
D’Anthony enjoys seeing the members working together in order to better themselves and their business ideas. It makes the time and effort that it takes to make the club a success worth it to her. “The results of hard work are always so rewarding that it makes the preparation fun,” D’Anthony said.
D’Anthony hopes that the club’s growing success on campus will further help students achieve their own dreams in the business and marketing world.
According to the club’s description on HPU’s website, it “was created to give our members hands-on experience in the field of entrepreneurship. Through speakers, innovative projects, and business competitions, our members get a first-hand look at the world of running your own business.”
D’Anthony hopes that her involvement with the club, along with her entrepreneurial spirit, will ultimately bring her success in the business world. She hopes to one day be the CEO or marketing director of a company.
From her experience in the business world, she enjoys working with consumers. Another goal of hers is to create her own business which would focus on helping customers.
“I loved interacting with my customers and marketing for the businesses,” D’Anthony said. “[I want to]start a small business focused on satisfying the consumer and giving back to the communities around me.”
