High Point University is constantly adding various additions around campus to make it even more extraordinary and helpful towards its students and professors. Just this past year they announced many new additions they are in the process of building already. Students have figured out the ins and outs of the university, including their array of wishes of additions that they hope to see come to the university in the future.

One of the more popular requests from students was the possibility of expanding the amount of D1 sports that the university already offers. “I wish that the university could add a D1 swim team,” Will Via said. “It would draw more students that want to swim in college to HPU as opposed to going to other more competitive smaller schools. Swim teams, especially since we already have pools, is relatively low maintenance. I think that there would be a ton of interest for something like that here.”

The addition of more student athletes from other areas would be able to enhance the reputation of the university that thrives off of being academically talented and being a part of an expansive and diverse community. Many students also believe that having a football team would create a more connected community in the long run.

“I would like a football team on campus because football games would bring students and members of the community in the High Point area out to come and support the team altogether,” Sam Wojciechowski said. Since football is typically associated with college life, many students wish that they were able to have that experience within the boundaries of their own campus.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, students also would like more accommodations from the dining options on campus.

“I think that some of the other food places on campus, such as Slane, should be open later because everyone stays up late studying or going to the gym and it would be much easier to have access to food,” Emily Shea said.

The Farmer’s Market is one of the healthier dinning options on campus, which many students love, but they do not love that it is not open on the weekends.

“I really wish that Farmers was open on the weekends,” Megan Kinney said. “Farmers is one of the healthiest places on campus to eat so giving people more options to eat in a healthy way would be very beneficial.”

A key part of college is eating healthy, which is why students feel that the Farmers Market should be accessible during the weekends. It takes away an entire selection of food, creating a hunt for relatively healthy meals to opt for.

HPU really has a strong love for constantly adding additions to the university to make it even more extraordinary for the students. Through these improvements we also have gained even more opportunities. For example, Cottrell Hall has been an amazing study center that just opened last year. As HPU’s campus and students continue to grow and expand, so will the ideas, resulting in even bigger and better things.
