It was perfect 60 degree weather for Alpha Gamma Delta sorority to hold their third annual paint slam on April 3. The event was held on the intramural fields complete with food trucks, music, a slip ‘n slide, messy twister, and kickball.
Teams of four signed up to join in on a day full of splattering paint and running around. All proceeds benefitted the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A total of 70 teams signed up and the sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta raised over $2,800 towards their philanthropy.
“We have hosted this event for several years now and it is a great way to get our student body outside and involved in a day full of fun activities, all while supporting a great cause,” said Kendall Goodman, paint slam chair. “Students love getting messy with the paint and playing games outside.”
At the event, there were several different stations. The first station was a game of slip ‘n slide kickball. Instead of just running from base to base, there were slip ‘n slides covered in paint to get you to the next base. Each stretch between bases was covered in paint, water, and soap.
Another event was messy twister, which included a paint element to the classic game. Each of the dots on the twister board had paint corresponding to the color of the dot. Each team of four competed against another team on the board. As more people were added to the board, the game became more challenging.
Two food vendors were at the event for anyone who was hungry from flinging paint and getting muddy. Zeko’s food truck served Greek cuisine, Italian cuisine and pizza. Sunset Slush of High Point provided an Italian ice service for participants to cool off and get refreshed. The brothers of Sigma Nu fraternity donated snacks and drinks for the event and Bruster’s donated 120 free scoops of ice cream for the event.
